Ya Damn Skippy & Justa P’haze Limited Can Release

We’re happy to announce our next limited release canning run! In addition to Dunkel and Helles, we’re also adding Ya Damn Skippy (peanut butter porter) and Justa P’Haze (New England-style IPA) to the mix. Now you can bring your favorite Blue Stallion beers with you anywhere! 6-packs will be available in the taproom on Friday, August 10, 2018. Dunkel and Helles will be available at your favorite local retailers about a week after that. Ya Damn Skippy and Justa P’Haze will only be available in the taproom.

If you’ve been drinking our beers for any length of time, then you’re probably already familiar with two of our flagships, Dunkel (a dark malty German-style lager) and Helles (a crisp refreshing golden German-style lager). Some of you may not have tried a few of our newer beers, so here’s a refresher.

Ya Damn Skippy is a robust porter with peanut butter coming in at 5% ABV. Using a porter as a base for the peanut butter gives you a beer that’s roasty and meshes terrifically with the peanut butter flavors, but doesn’t have a heavy or overly-sweet mouthfeel like a stout.

Justa P’Haze is our New England-style IPA coming in at a hazy 6.8% ABV. Made with Ekaunot, Mosaic, and Citra hops, this juicy IPA is sure to satisfy your thirst for haze. We’re canning it the day before it goes on sale to ensure it’s as fresh as possible.

Check out the Facebook event for information on the can release and sign up for our newsletter to find out about special events like this before anyone else!

Blue Stallion releases first beer in cans!

It’s been a long time coming. The day is finally here: You can get your own Blue Stallion beer in cans! We canned a limited run of both Dunkel and Helles recently. To celebrate the event, starting Thursday, May 24th, you can purchase 6-packs of both beers at the Blue Stallion taproom for $9 each all through Memorial Day weekend. The price will sneak up a bit after Memorial Day.

Our first canning was done with a mobile canning line, so we consider this to be a limited release for both Dunkel and Helles. We’ll have 6-packs of both beers for sale in the taproom until they’re gone. We also sent out some pallets of Dunkel cans to our distributor in the Central Kentucky area. As soon as we’re aware what store shelves they’ll be on, we’ll let you know!

We’ll send out announcements about future canning runs and a move to more permanent production. Prost!

Check out the Facebook event for more details on the Memorial Day weekend can release.

Special Limited Bottle Release – Boss Battle Series

We’re excited to announce the release of our first bottled beers at Blue Stallion Brewing, a special limited release of barrel-aged beers we’re calling the Boss Battle Series! The beer names were inspired by some of our favorite old school video game bad guys from growing up.

Here’s a list of the four bottle beers we’ll be releasing in 22 oz. bombers:

 1. Gännuhn – Doppelbock aged in bourbon barrels for a year, 11.5% ABV
 2. Müther Bräin – Old Ale aged in PVW bourbon barrels for a year, 10.5% ABV
 3. Bäuwzer – Belgian Golden Strong Ale aged in bourbon barrels, 10.2% ABV
 4. Tysün – Märzen-style lager aged in bourbon barrels, 8.0% ABV

The event will take place during Lexington Craft Beer Week on Friday, May 20th at noon. We’ll set up the bottle sale at the back of the brewery through our rear garage door.  Gännuhn and Müther Bräin will be $15 per bottle with Bäuwzer and Tysün costing $13.50 per bottle. There will be a dedicated table just for the bottle sale to keep wait times to a minimum. We have a very limited number of each beer available, so we have to limit each person to 2 bottles of each beer style.

For those looking for the tap experience, the draft release of Gännuhn and Müther Bräin is Saturday, May 21st. Be sure to check out all our other Lexington Craft Beer Week events!

9 Medal-Winning Beers and Goodbye to LCBW 2015

Today marks an end to another Lexington Craft Beer Week. It was an incredible week filled with great craft beer events throughout the city. Again, LexBeerScene.com did a great job sponsoring the week-long event.

Alltech Craft Brews and Food

The week was full of awesome happenings for Blue Stallion as well. One of the last big events of the week was Alltech’s Craft Brews and Food Fest. We were excited to hear our beers brought home 9 medals in all, 4 silver and 5 bronze! That’s in addition to the 4 medals our beers brought home last year.

Silver Medals:

 • Blue Stallion Oatmeal Stout
 • Blue Stallion Munich Helles
 • Blue Stallion Doppelbock
 • Blue Stallion Irish Red

Bronze Medals:

Test Batch Takeover

One of the most popular events we held all week was the Test Batch Takeover. We had 14 small batch experimental beers on tap at one time! You can see the full list here. Several Lexington homebrewers helped us with five of the brews, and they were fantastic. Some favorites of all 14 included:
• P.B. & Stout (peanut butter chocolate stout)
 • Bourbon Ball (nitro imperial stout)
 • Wet T-Shirt Contest (watermelon wheat ale)
 • Badger Blood (Belgian wheat ale w/ tart cherries)
 • El Diablo es Verde (cream ale w/ cilantro, lime & habaneros)
[space height=”25″]

We got a lot of good feedback on the beers and we’re putting a lot of consideration into bringing a couple back at the production level. Thanks for making it such a great day!

New Beer Releases

We released a whopping 4 beers during Lexington Craft Beer Week (not counting the Test Batch Takeover). The response has been great to all of them. If you haven’t had a chance to try them, you need to get down to the taproom soon. Here’s a list:
• Maibock
 • Equuleus (old ale – Ethereal collaboration)
 • Lightringer ESB (extra special bitter)
 • Bourbon Barrel-Aged Doppelbock

Until next year, Prost!

Oktoberfest Beer Release to Kick Off Festival

Blue Stallion Oktoberfest Beer Release and Festival

It’s that time of year again! Our annual Oktoberfest festival starts September 19th. That’s also the day we’re releasing this year’s Oktoberfest beer in the taproom. Unlike last year, we were able to brew enough of this seasonal lager to distribute across Lexington and central Kentucky. Distribution for our Oktoberfest lager will begin on Monday September 22nd. Be sure to ask for it at your favorite bar, restaurant or craft beer hang out!

Because last year was such a huge success, we’re adding another week onto the celebration. Our festival now matches up with the world famous celebration in Munich, Germany, running from September 19th to October 5th.

We have a lot of great things planned for this year. The staff and owners will be donning traditional dirndls and lederhosen again. Plus we’ll have authentic Bavarian pretzels from Bluegrass Baking Company paired with Olivia’s Beer Cheese made with our Oktoberfest beer. Live music is also scheduled for the weekends. Check our event calendar for more details.

For food this year, we decided to turn the reigns over to the experts. The best food trucks in Lexington will set up during our 17 day long celebration, including Gastro Gnomes, Fork in the Road, Rolling Oven, Lyles BBQ, Minton’s 760 and Ellos on Broadway. We’ll have 2 food trucks at a time on Fridays and Saturdays.

Help us welcome in Fall with some great beer, food, music and celebration!
